BPM (Beats Per Minute)

The tempo measurement indicating how many beats occur in one minute of music.

BPM is the standard unit for measuring musical tempo. A higher BPM means faster music. Common tempos include: Hip-Hop (70-100 BPM), Afrobeats (95-115 BPM), Amapiano (110-120 BPM), House (120-130 BPM), and Drum & Bass (160-180 BPM).

Knowing the BPM of a track is essential for DJs (beat matching), producers (sampling and collaboration), and anyone buying stems or instrumentals — everything needs to be tempo-compatible.

Most DAWs display and allow you to set BPM. Tap-tempo tools can detect the BPM of any playing track.
